Why Choose a Yoga Retreat with Massage in Nepal?
Yoga asks a lot from your body. Daily classes, early mornings and long sitting can leave muscles tight, even for people who love the practice. A yoga retreat with massage balances this effort with real rest.
Here is what many guests value:
- Rest after effort: A warm oil massage in the middle of the day gives your muscles a chance to soften.
- A deeper practice: When the body is relaxed, poses and breathing feel smoother.
- A slower pace: Daily bodywork reminds you to stop rushing and feel what is happening inside.
- Time to reset: Four weeks is long enough to change habits, such as sleep, food and screen time.
- Care for the whole person: You work on body, breath and mind together.
Every person responds differently, so we never promise a fixed result. We promise a calm place, good teaching and steady care.
What Makes Our Yoga Retreat with Ayurvedic Massage Special?
Many places add a massage as a short extra. Here, a yoga retreat with Ayurvedic massage means the bodywork is part of every single day. This makes our yoga retreat with massage different from a simple spa stay.
Ayurveda is the traditional medicine of Nepal. It looks at balance in the body and mind, and Ayurvedic massage is one of its gentle tools for relaxation.
We also teach in a family-run home, not a large hotel. Guests eat together, study together and often leave feeling like part of the family. Our Yoga Family, runs the school with this spirit, and you can read more on the founder page.
Finally, the setting does a lot of the work. Fresh air, forest views and quiet evenings make it easier to switch off.

Daily Ayurvedic Massage During the Retreat
Ayurvedic Massage Experience
This part of the retreat is purely for you. You lie back, breathe and let a trained therapist do the work.
If you wish to learn massage as a skill, that is a different program. See our 50-hour massage teacher training.
What a Session Feels Like
Ayurvedic massage uses warm herbal oil and slow, even strokes. The pace is calm, and the aim is deep relaxation. This is what a relaxing yoga retreat in Nepal should feel like. Each session lasts one hour. Afterwards, you may feel sleepy or very light, so we plan it between the midday yoga class and lunch.
In our sample schedule, the massage comes after the midday yoga class. The time may move a little earlier or later, depending on how many guests we have.
Simple Care Tips
- Tell your therapist about allergies, skin problems, recent injuries or surgery before the first session.
- Please let us know if you are pregnant or have a fever.
- Speak up if the pressure is too strong or too light.
- Drink water afterwards and rest for a few minutes.

Why Yoga and Massage Work So Well Together
Yoga and Ayurvedic massage come from the same family of ideas. Both look at the body as a whole, and both value rest as much as effort.
Yoga builds strength, flexibility and awareness. Massage then gives tired muscles a chance to soften and recover.
When you repeat this pattern daily, the practice feels less like work and more like care.
This pairing is what makes a yoga retreat with Ayurvedic massage popular with busy professionals, travellers and anyone who simply needs a pause.
Yoga and Ayurveda massage work beautifully together because they offer complementary approaches to physical and mental well-being.
Yoga works through movement, breathing, and awareness, helping improve flexibility, strength, balance, and mental calmness.
Ayurvedic massage works through warm herbal oils and traditional massage techniques, helping relax muscles, ease physical tension, and create a deep sense of comfort. When combined, yoga prepares the body through gentle movement, while massage provides an opportunity for rest and relaxation.
Together, they create a holistic wellness experience that nurtures the body, calms the mind, supports better rest, and encourages a deeper connection with yourself.

A Short Guide to Ayurveda for Retreat Guests
You do not need to know Ayurveda to enjoy this retreat. A few simple ideas, however, help you understand what your massage is about. Ayurveda describes three main energies in the body, called doshas. They are Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and each person carries a different mix.
- Vata relates to movement and air. When it is high, people may feel restless, dry or anxious.
- Pitta relates to heat and digestion. When it is high, people may feel irritable or overheated.
- Kapha relates to structure and calm. When it is high, people may feel heavy or slow.
Ayurvedic care aims to bring these energies into balance with food, rest, daily habits and bodywork. Massage with warm oil is one of the traditional ways Balance these 3 Doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
This retreat is not a medical program, and we do not diagnose illness. If you wish to study Ayurveda or try deeper therapies, see our one-week Ayurveda and yoga retreat or month long Ayurveda retreat.
A Relaxing Yoga Retreat in Nepal: What You Practice Each Day
Your teachers follow the Hatha yoga tradition, and they add other dimensions of yoga around it. This mix keeps each day varied but calm.
Hatha Yoga Asana
Hatha yoga is slow, steady and friendly to new students. You hold poses, link them with your breath and learn to listen to your body. The classes move from simple to complex. You never need to force a pose, and you may rest whenever you need.

Yoga Flow
In the evening you practice a flowing class. Poses link together with the breath, which warms the body and clears the mind before dinner.
Breathing and Relaxation
Each morning includes breath work and relaxation. Pranayama teaches you simple methods such as slow belly breathing and alternate nostril breathing.
Guided relaxation closes the session, so you start the day calm and steady.

Meditation
Every afternoon you sit for a meditation class. You learn how to watch the breath and thoughts without judging them.
New to sitting? Read our introduction to meditation page first. It explains the basics in plain words.
Mantra Chanting
Chanting is part of the morning practice. Mantra chanting uses voice and sound to settle the mind, and you do not need to sing well.
Together, these five parts make this a true yoga meditation retreat in Nepal, not just a stretching holiday. Guests looking for a holistic wellness retreat in Nepal often value this mix of movement, breath, sound and stillness.

A Day at the Retreat, Hour by Hour

Morning
You wake early, often to birdsong. At 7 am, you move into the first yoga class, when the body is cool and the mind is quiet.
Then comes chanting, breathing and relaxation, followed by breakfast. After that, the late morning is open for rest, a journal or a slow walk.
Midday
At 12:15 pm, you return to the mat for a second yoga class if you like to join. This is optional class. If you want to go around you can skip this class.
Your Ayurvedic massage follows, then lunch. Many guests say this is the part of the day they look forward to most. It is the heart of a yoga retreat with Ayurvedic massage.
Afternoon and Evening
After lunch, you have free time to nap, read or write. At 4:15 pm, the group sits for meditation, and a flowing yoga class follows in the early evening.
Dinner is served at 7 pm. After that, the day ends quietly, so you can sleep well and wake fresh for the next morning.
This steady rhythm is the heart of a good holistic wellness retreat in Nepal. The body knows what comes next, so it can let go.
How the Four Weeks May Unfold
Every guest has a different path, but many people notice a similar rhythm over 29 days. This table shows what may happen. It is not a fixed syllabus.
| Week | What many guests experience |
| Week 1 | Settling in. The body adjusts to early mornings, new food and daily massage. Muscles may feel sore, and sleep may change. |
| Week 2 | The routine feels natural. Poses feel easier, breathing feels steadier and the mind starts to slow down. |
| Week 3 | Deeper rest. Meditation grows calmer, and many guests notice more energy in the daytime. |
| Week 4 | Looking forward. You plan how to keep your practice alive at home and enjoy the quiet. |
This is why a 29-day yoga retreat with massage works differently from a short break. A one-month yoga retreat in Nepal gives you time that a weekend never can. You have time to settle, deepen and then prepare for your return.

Tips to Get the Most From Your Month
- Arrive rested. Long flights can leave the body tired, so give yourself a day .
- Do not compare yourself with others. Each body moves in its own way.
- Drink plenty of water, especially after massage.
- Keep a short journal. Write a few lines each night about how you feel.
- Limit your phone. A month with less screen time can feel like a gift.
- Be honest with your teachers and your therapist. Small notes about pain, sleep or mood help us care for you.
Small habits like these make your yoga retreat with massage smoother and much more enjoyable.
Keeping the Calm After You Go Home
A month of daily practice builds good habits. The real gift is learning how to keep them alive in your normal life.
Start small at home. Ten to fifteen minutes of yoga and a short breathing session each morning is enough. If you wish to keep learning with guidance, our 10-hour online meditation and breathing course and online yoga classes can help.
Many guests also return for another stay. Others move on to a one-month meditation retreat or a teacher training.

Why Nepal for a Yoga and Massage Retreat?
Nepal sits in the Himalaya, where yogis and seekers have gone for peace for centuries. The air is fresh, the mornings are quiet and the pace of village life is slow.
A yoga and massage retreat in Nepal also gives you culture on your doorstep. For many travellers, it is the best yoga retreat Nepal can offer to balance sightseeing with calm. Kathmandu valley holds old temples, stupas and busy squares. On your free time, you can visit one and return to the calm of the school by evening.
Many guests also enjoy a short hike near the forest. Ask us if you wish to extend your trip with a yoga trek after the retreat.
Why Nepal Yoga Home?
We have taught yoga for more than 15 years. Over 10,000 people have visited, and our guests have come from about 80 countries.
- A family atmosphere. Life here follows the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means the whole world is one family.
- A true yogic home. The place is calm, natural and sattvic, and a yogic way of living comes first.
- Caring teachers. Our yoga teachers are friendly and patient with every level.
- Trusted registrations. We are registered with Yoga Alliance International, World Yoga Alliance and Yoga Alliance India.
- A beautiful setting. The school sits beside the Nagarjun forest, with views of the valley and hills.
You can read what past guests say on our testimonials page.
Choosing a place for a full month is a big decision, so we welcome your questions. Write to us, ask about the daily routine and tell us what you hope to gain. We will answer honestly, and if another program suits you better, we will say so.
This honest approach is why many guests call our 29-day wellness retreat in Nepal a second home. It is also why so many return.

Best Time for a Yoga Retreat Nepal Guests Enjoy
Nepal Yoga Home welcomes you throughout the year for yoga and meditation retreats. Whenever you choose to visit, you can enjoy a refreshing natural environment and a beautiful space to reconnect with yourself.
Winter is cold in the early morning and at night, but days can be sunny. The monsoon (June and july) brings some rain, though the hills turn green. We may adjust the daily schedule to the weather.

Yes, it is. The classes start simple and move step by step, and you may rest whenever you need. Nobody is expected to bend far or hold hard poses. Beginner to advance practitioner can enjoy this retreat.
Can I stay for fewer than 29 days?
This program is designed as a full month, so the days build on each other. If you have less time, we also run shorter retreats, such as a ten-day yoga retreat and a two-week stress management retreat. Write to us with your dates, and we will suggest the best fit.
Will I get a yoga teaching certificate at the end?
This is a retreat, not a teacher training, so it is built for rest and practice. If you want a teaching qualification, our 200-hour and 500-hour courses are the right choice. Ask us if you are unsure which path suits you.
Can I join if I have back pain or an old injury?
Often yes, but please tell us about it when you book. Our teachers can offer gentler versions of poses and suggest which movements to skip. For serious health concerns, check with your doctor before you travel.
Can I come with a friend or partner and share a room?
Yes, you can choose a shared or private room when you book. Tell us who you are coming with, and we will arrange the rooms together. Both standard and deluxe options are available.

All meals are vegetarian and sattvic. Please share any allergy or diet need when you book, so the kitchen can plan for you. Over a full month, this advance notice helps a great deal.
Can I work online during the retreat?
Wi-Fi is available at the school, but the days are full of classes and rest. We suggest you keep work to a minimum so you can enjoy the retreat. If you must stay connected, use your free hours and tell us your needs early.
Do I need a visa for a 29-day stay in Nepal?
Most visitors need a tourist visa, and many get one on arrival at Kathmandu airport. A 29-day stay usually fits within the 30-day option, but rules and fees change. Please check the latest details before you fly.
Can I visit Kathmandu during the retreat?
Yes, you can use your free time for short trips to Thamel or the old temples. Thamel is about 20 minutes away by taxi. Please plan to be back in time for the next class.
